Qwest’s solution to SED Set #49, SONET Service (SONETS), is

shown below.

Qwest will provide a Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 4500 (or equivalent) as a

part of our SONET service offering. The following is provided for information

purposes.

The Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 4500 provides the functions of multiple

network elements in a single platform. The Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 4500

provides Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) solutions with interfaces such as

DS-1, DS-3, EC-1 and data solutions with 10/100/1000 Ethernet solutions

with OC-3 to OC-192 optical transport bit rates including integrated DWDM

wavelengths.

The FLASHWAVE 4500 Multi-service Provisioning Platform (MSPP)

not only offers an extremely cost- and space-effective solution for all

traditional SONET Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM) applications, but also

supports advanced functionality such as native Ethernet transport, digital

video transport, and integrated M13 multiplexing. Unmatched flexibility allows

any FLASHWAVE 4500 MSPP to be easily expanded within the network to

become a Multi-service Switching Platform (MSSP), supporting ultra high-

capacity grooming applications that previously required an expensive Digital

Cross-connect System.

The FLASHWAVE 4500 platform solves major business and network

problems by delivering a carrier-class multi-service optical transport solution

for telecom, reducing transport costs and power requirements, and
