Quick Configuration

Cisco Systems Catalyst 1800 Token Ring Switch

IP Address Information for port 0

IP Address: 0.0.0.0

Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0

Default Gateway:0.0.0.0

Catalyst 1800> Configure IP 0 Addr

Step8 Press <Ctrl-P>. The previous command is recalled.

Step9 Press <Backspace> until the parameter Addr is removed.

Step10 Type the following command:

s<SP>xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <CR>

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the corporate standard your organization uses for their IP subnet

mask.

Step11 Press <Ctrl-P>. The previous command is recalled.

Step12 Press <Backspace> until the parameter s is removed.

Step13 Type the following command:

def<SP>xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <CR>

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP Address of the default gateway device on this subnet.

You can now configure the Cisco Catalyst 1800 from an SNMP-based network

management platform.

Configuring a Multi-Ring Switch

If you plan to configure the switch for Multi-Ring Mode Operation ( i.e. you need to support multiple

ring numbers), follow these steps:

Step1 Type this command at the Cisco Catalyst 1800 Main menu:

Configure<SP>Logical<SP>1
