Connecting to the Network and Powering Up the Router

Step 4 Connect the other end of the shielded serial transition cable to a CSU/DSU or

modem (synchronous or asynchronous). (See Figure 2-12.) The serial port

operates in data terminal equipment (DTE) mode only. You cannot connect the

cable to another DTE device (such as a router).
